Pennsylvania DOT Fines and Limits Permit Practice Test
Welcome to our free Pennsylvania Fines and Limits permit practice test! This unique test focuses on the consequences of traffic offenses. This practice test is based on Pennsylvania’s official driver’s manual (Pennsylvania DOT Handbook (PA Driver's Manual) 2024) and the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. It has 50 multiple-choice questions and is up to date as of November 2024. Like our other Pennsylvania practice tests, the Pennsylvania Fines and Limits practice test comes with an optional hint for each question. Additionally, a simple explanation of each correct answer is included to help reinforce your new knowledge.
In the United States, about 37 people die in alcohol-related crashes every day, which works out to one fatality every 39 minutes. About 40 percent of all traffic deaths involve alcohol-impaired drivers. In 2022, 13,524 people died in traffic crashes in which alcohol impairment was a contributing factor. That same year, there were also 12,151 speeding-related deaths nationwide. Speeding was a contributing factor in 29 percent of traffic fatalities.
Pennsylvania currently has an average of 355 traffic crashes per day, including three traffic fatalities per day. Speeding, reckless driving, and running red lights are frequently cited as contributing factors.
In Pennsylvania in 2020, 7.26 percent of Pennsylvania’s drivers had at least one speeding ticket on their driving record. In 2022, there were 1,179 traffic fatalities in the state. Speeding was a factor in 39 percent of those deaths. Alcohol impairment was a factor in 29 percent of them.
Vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 16- to 24-year-old drivers, and many of those fatal crashes are alcohol related. Thirty percent of drivers ages 16 to 20 who died in motor vehicle crashes had been drinking alcohol.
